Lorenzo’s Vineyard
Dry Creek Valley
Guardians: Celestial Beings
Dry Creek Valley is about as close to God’s land when it comes to Zinfandel as there is. Within the valley itself, there is a particular area where vinous angels sing the loudest and most beautifully. This of course, is the Dry Creek bench.
Upon this bench of red, cobbly, porous soil, grow the 100 year old, dry-farmed, vines of Lorenzo’s Vineyard.
It was Lorenzo, the grandfather of the current generation of the family that planted the oldest vines on the ranch from which the Heirloom Wines springs forth. Thus, the wine is named for him.
The first two vintages of Lorenzo’s have featured a cofermentation of Zinfandel, Carignane, and Petite Sirah. I have also played with a touch of Valdique in the 2008.
