Kick Ranch Vineyard

Sonoma County

Guardians: Dick Keenan and Cathy McNamara

The steep, south-west facing hillside of Kick Ranch hangs onto the rear flank of Spring Mountain. Wedged between the Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Valley, Chalk Hill, and Russian River Valley appellations, Kick Ranch is a perfect spot for rich Syrah and perfumey Sauvignon Blanc.

Planted in 2001 by San Francisco super-attorney Dick Keenan and his wife Kathy McNamara, Kick Ranch features five clones of Syrah, two clones of Sauvignon Blanc, and even a touch of Viognier which I buy for cofermentation. Bedrock Wine Co. is not the only winery to recognize Kick Ranch as outstanding for Syrah—we are happy to share it with 13 other excellent producers making distinct, vineyard-designated, wines from the spot.

In addition, Musque clone Sauvignon Blanc from a steep hillside section of the vineyard makes up a large percentage of the “Cuvee Caritas” Bordeaux Blanc blend.
